WALE!!! and GUCCI!

yeah, i didn’t stutter, or mistype. it’s an epic collaboration that i’m a big fan of. and if you’re wondering why i didn’t drop this when it came out, it’s because this is what i was in the middle of posting when my site collapsed like the lung of george clooney in that movie, three kings. you know what i’m talking about.

let’s ask gucci how he feels about pretty girls.

gucci. w/ wale. DCtoBC.com

i agree, sir. i agree. anyway, whoever suggested gucci get on this track knows exactly what they were doing. this song will further spread the good word of the rap ambassador for the capital, as well as the DC sound that is go-go. i just wish gucci didn’t sound so damn quiet on the track! we need more enthusiasm, gucci! this joint goes harder than “chillin” to me. it’s also insulting to the ugly girls. or brutally honest, you be the judge. let’s get it.

“ugly girls quiet / pretty girls wild.”

The Most Intense Movie Scene Ever.

Filed under: movies, music, welcome to DC

if you ever read the first DCtoBC.com, before it got destroyed by the bastards from godaddy.com, you’ll remember the post i did about the cult classic movie, “the warriors.” i won’t rehash that, though. i need you to just throw that in the netflix queue, and enjoy a classic. one of the most intense scenes in any movie ever created is in this movie, and i’ve decided to share it with you. brace yourself.

wow. well, how many of you DC heads knew that the scene above spawned this go-go classic?

yerp. and basically, i need this song in my life. can you help me, gogo heads?

blastoffvol3 lovebombart [dc to bc exclusive] blast off mixtape, vol. 3: love bomb.

so volume one got critical acclaim by our readers. volume two was featured on the biggest hip-hop blog in the world (what up JD!?), and got me more hits and a few sponsors. and number three?

here’s another hit, barry bonds.

25 songs that should be played in hover crafts, space shuttles, and deloreans. that’s like a CD and a half. much more eclectic than the other two. you may have heard some, but you probably haven’t heard most. old, new, with a dash of DC in there. tracklisting is insane. don’t be turned off by the amount of names you don’t know. i assure you, this joint is wild. if you don’t think this mix is crucial, let me know. so that i bring more heat next time. but it should be stellar.

if you know any of the artists that are on this joint, throw them the tape. if you need more music from any specific artist, holler at me and i got you.

tracklisting:

1. n*e*r*d – love bomb
2. marky – solar system (remix) (feat. raheem devaughn)
3. s-caliber – hey hollywood (feat. nate landers)
4. USDA – quickie
5. christian rich – schemer

wale x ucb x blu @ s.o.b.'s was historic.

IMG 1544 wale x ucb x blu @ s.o.b.'s was historic.

i got a text on my way home from NY today from my man AP.

“that was my first time seeing ‘le live. but i feel like last night was an artistically historic occasion.”

well said.

wale killed it. blu killed it. fresh daily and the a-ok crew killed it. in fact, somebody find me some more of their music, immediately. PLEASE. skillz and talib were straight. jazzy jeff was DJ’ing for a hot second. but the headliners rocked that show like mr. nas vegas aka deep v neck tee assassin rocked people on the basketball court in our high school days. it was bonkers, like that show that used to be on disney.

let me stress this: go-go has never been accepted by the masses. before july 14, 2008, it was strictly a DC thing. rarely did people outside the DMV appreciate it. those who did appreciate usually swagger jacked it for beats and gave no credit to the go-go influence.

last night was a different story. every single member of that uncalled 4 experience band had the sold out crowd going crazy. new yorkers were groving to those pocket beats, swaying to those percussion filled jams. i know other blogs are grabbing those clips of wale rapping, but we already know the man can rap. so i need to give some shine on this drummer who damn near brought the entire house down. feel FREE to swagger jack this clip, cuz it’s crucial and i know you know it.

in addition to backing up wale’s set, UCB gave a go-go 101 tutorial, hitting every classic from “sardines” to “sexy lady.” i feel like this is a power combo, and wale should rock with these dudes @ every show. among the best hip hop show i’ve been to in my life, behind only lupe in atlanta, and kanye’s GITD tour.

check the crucial pics out after the jump.
