and if that sample they use sounds familiar, it’s because it’s from stacey epps’ “floatin”, which you can jam and download below.

this is a re-up. from july ‘08. almost a year ago.

if for some reason you didn’t feel him the first time, you will this time around.

this is monumental music, and i’m honored to be the guy to leak it. it’s so vicious that i’m tempted not posting anything else on this blog today. that way, it’ll be the only thing on everybody’s mind. unfortunately, i need to post a few things, but i feel like hope that by the end of the day, one of the big dog blogs would have snatched it, talking about “did you hear about that guy j. cole?”

yerp. that’s how i’m going. he reps fayetteville, NC as hard as fresh prince reps west philly. and furthermore, he makes all of his own beats. like this joint.

i feel like you shouldn’t ever really critically judge music until you sit in on a studio session. then you see how much talent and hard work and grind and hustle and elbow grease it takes to be an artist.

as you can see, all that plus a mini bar does the trick for jermaine. i’m looking forward to what this “warm up” mixtape is gonna sound like. i heard it’s crazy, and features some beats from and that song at the end sounded especially vicious, didn’t it? if you need some more j. cole in your life, check the links below, they should hold you over until the mixtape’s released.

wenotfopy m1 platoon we not them, part one [the mixtape].

i’ll give you an idea of how good m1 platoon is.

i sent this mixtape to people in an email before even posting it. meaning i didn’t care that they got it from my site. i just wanted them to hear m1. and i swear to god this joint is incredible. nothing sounds like this at all. if you appreciate GOOD HIP HOP, then m1 platoon should be in your iPod, iTunes, boombox, car stereo, and every other place you can jam some music.

you haven’t heard about these dudes? well, they’re a rack of homies (most of which are from DC. just throwing that out there) who go to school out in north carolina, and who happen to have 9th wonder, producer extraordinaire, as their professor. i’m not even lying. so with 9th as their mentor, imagine what kind of music they create. in fact, you don’t even have to imagine, because i got it all for you right here. featuring biz markie, carlitta durand, g5 clive, and savin. oh, and huge shout out to vaughn aka arafat yates, one of the rhymers/producers in the squad. one of the few guys who gets really excited about music in general. i respect those kind of cats out there. without further ado, i’m throwing you the mixtape, complete with taste tests.

and i honestly struggled giving you 3 samples, because there’s too many joints on this mixtape that are must-hears. i’ve never heard such improvement from one mixtape to another. lyrics, beats, overall cohesiveness. damn. THIS SHIT IS INSANE! i’ve never heard anything like it. that’s probably why they called this joint “we not them.” good grief. i’m hyped. everybody needs to enjoy this. and if my words didn’t move you to download this, then click the link and see how many people already have got it. that’ll probably move you a bit. ha. wzup scoopay, chopps, sean d, c4 black, napalm…i see all you guys.

j cole dctobccom 500x746 you need to know about j. cole.

i could easily spin this entry into a huge story about a wild and crazy night out in the bronx. but i won’t. i’ll just tell you this. in a semi-drunken stupor, i began running off at the mouth to a stranger about this north carolina rapper that my man and mentor aristotle put me on to while we were both over interning @ def jam. i don’t remember exactly what i was saying, but i probably said something like this:

“…yea man, his name is j. cole, and he flow is kinda insane. i think aris came across a diamond in the rough.”

and the man looked at me, emotionless, and said, “i’m j. cole.”

oh boy. he probably thought that i knew what he looked like, and i purposely said all this stuff around him to cise him a bit. but in actuality, i was just talking about the last thing i heard on my ipod. and by coincidence, i was talking to j. cole about himself. i felt foolish.

fast forward a few months, and mr. cole has developed into a gem. you know why i like this guy? because he doesn’t stop flowing. like on this “royal flush” freestyle. i just threw this on repeat 6 straight times, and honestly, i think he shoulda replaced raekwon on the original version.
