i can’t just throw the DC to BC stamp of approval on every mixtape. but this time, me and my blog affiliate, D. Omen had to. if you recall, i featured a G*Two track back on one of those collabo DMV mixtapes that me and a couple of (now defunct) area blogs put together last year.

well, it’s ’09, and my man G* has crafted a short but sweet mixtape that i believe is  very official. one of my favorite out the DMV, and definitely grinding. i respect humble artists who have a knack for putting together tight tracks with interesting concepts, and especially when you can relate in someway or another. i mean, there’s a track about that long, late night drive home after the booty call (“295″ feat. X.O.), and the beats are crazy, including a few flipped samples from old songs that you’ll probably recognize and some original production. the entire project was produced by Bread Scorsese, so if you need some beats, find that guy out in the streets (of the internet). features the likes of Ice The Villain, Bread (yep, he’s rapping), Young Mutt, Young Doc, X.O., kaZ, Cadi Mac, Hoffa, Mo C.H.I.P.S., and of course his hometeam, The Congregation. let me know how you like the mixtape, i’ve had it in heavy rotation for a couple days. hopefully this will be the first step for G* to get the respect he deserves in this emerging DMV hip hop scene. check the sample below, which is a hidden track (after the last song on the mixtape), and check the VIDEO below that. download link is below that. enjoy, and spread the good word please!

mixtape messiah 7, the final installment of chamillionaire’s extra trill mixtape series, has dropped on the internet about an hour or so ago. oh boy. it will also be made available to a limited 100 lucky fans only, in hard-copy form, along with a full-color 12 panel booklet and a crisp $100 bill. talk about marketing. this man needs to open up an agency and help these other rappers get their promo game up.

the hype over Mixtape Messiah 7 is wild, per usual. people out there don’t understand, he has some loyal ass fans out there. someone actually bid as much as $8,500 on a copy! says koopa: “100 percent of the proceeds from this EBAY auction will be given to NO MORE VICTIMS, a charity in Houston,TX. that helps children with incarcerated parents.”

there are 12 different ways to win a copy, so hit up cham’s blog if you’re interested. oh yeah, and this is only disc one. 26 songs. i heard there’s 4 discs. that means it could be 100 songs. oh, my, goodness. now you know why he’s my favorite rapper. he just doesn’t stop spittin’. he kills every beat on this first disc. as the discs drop, i’ll post them. listen to him flow over that “$100 millon” real quick.

one new joint, one old. both beats are insanity, because his beat choice is second to like only a couple people. and that’s a huge skill to have, because too many great rappers pick wack ass beats to flow on.

i won’t lie. i don’t know much about this guy, but he’s nice. nobody ever e-mailed me his stuff except my homie major from goadome talk, and i don’t even know why. he’s a nigerian-american like myself, and he’s from maryland, like myself. so i already support the man. ha. R&B crooner raheem devaughn has recently signed him to his boutique label, 368 music group, and that this mixtape dropped sometime last week.

my hunch is that there will be comparisons to wale, because they are both nigerian and from the area, and their flows are somewhat similar. but i think his flow and subject matter distinguishes him enough for the chit chatter to cease. i wish i had more info about the guy; i don’t have a bio for you because i didn’t do thorough research. sometimes it’s better like that, and i can be pleasantly surprised like i am now. i’ll make sure i’ll keep an eye out for his future projects. jam a couple samples, and get the mixtape below.
