ChesterFrench Chester French C'mon [On My Own].

i got my hands on a chester french joint that nobody really has yet, i believe. i’m pretty sure i heard it live when i went to see them and N*E*R*D last march over easter break, but this is the first CD quality version i’ve seen of it. i threw it around the net a few months back, but that was before the crazy buzz that they got after their video got serious rotation on all those MTV channels.

i really wish i was aware of these dudes while they were at harvard, i so would have gone to all their on-campus shows.

i don’t know anything about this dude at all, but saw the video, and was instantly amused. you probably will be too. the entire video is just a compilation of photos, but it’s still a video. it’s hard to explain, so just watch. pretty creative if you ask me. shout out to my girl heather r. for putting me on. i think this guy is performing at SXSW, too. somebody let me know.

ed feature page3 Meet Eddie AKA Eddie P AKA Eddie Music.

when you think of VA in the music industry, there are some serious heavy hitters.  timbo, missy, pharrell (modi’s idol), and of course my main man chad hugo, just to name a few.  all of these big time producers have their own sound.  today, i’m going to introduce you DC to BC junkies to a new sound coming out of the VA beach area along with the help of, the under sound (music group). the bodymore (baltimore) based record label is proud to present eddie, who is creating his own lane in the music world.  he is a product of a diverse musical backdround ranging from salsa to rock.  eddie just finished producing his album “sound wandering.” i’m here to bless you with a few joints from the lp. and if you want more info on the boy eddie, click the pic and it’ll take you deep into the world of under sound.

snatch these joints below and jam them. listen close.

last night, on j.ben.ok’s funkadelic freestyles radio at George Washington University, Jay Promo discussed his appreciation for nas, and claimed he was a better rapper than jay-z. now is that true? i don’t know. but i do know that nas recently released the ‘09 version of “if i ruled the world”, co-starring floetry’s marsha ambrosius. check it out.

but the real question is how does it compare to the original, featuring lauryn hill?

Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.

don’t gimme an answer until you hear BOTH tracks in their entirety. hit the comment sections and discuss, please.  jay, i expect you to leave a whole lotta words since you tried to school me on him on the radio show last night.

i didn’t bother posting the original, even though i like it a lot. so to make up for that, i’ll post young lifa man’s rendition. he claims he doesn’t do the stanky legg, but i’m not buying it. i bet he’s tried it a few times. regardless, he makes it too easy on the trillest, crunkest beat of ‘09. goodness.

artie, keep throwing me these wiz joints, i’m loving it. and guys, is it just me, or does wiz kinda look like me in that picture? like, a little bit. right?!

ain’t nothin’ like some trap boy storytelling. especially when it’s by gorilla Z-O. instead of going the typical “look at my canary yellow diamonds”, he decides to spit something candid. sure, not the most verbose lyricist, but surprisingly, it works well. a simple but solid jam.

from “this ain’t no mixtape”, dropping sometime soon.

i feel like pharrell had an understudy make this joint for the former cash money rhymer, who always expresses his love for neptunes beats. this is definitely on that wavelength. it’s crazy, and i don’t know whose on the hook, but if i didn’t know any better, i would say it’s kelis…i’m probably wrong, but i don’t care. enjoy.

it’s the weekend, and kelis is the baddest chick of all time, so this is what i’m throwing you. a classic. enjoy it, and add it to your weekend mix if you have one. hopefully this post will prompt her to come out of hibernation, but i heard she’s busy getting ready to give birth to god’s son’s son (read: nas’s child).

mos is one of my favorite artists. i don’t know all his lyrics or anything, but just something about me always gets me excited when i see new stuff from him. he’s been on his experimental tip for a bit, but he’s going back to his hip hop roots (kind of) with this one. not sure what album this is from, or if it’s ever coming out, but white men can blog leaked this joint today, and i like the big band feel it has. so i’m throwing it your way. i also like his ‘fit in this picture, especially those jordans. never had the patience to wait in line to get them, so i’ll live vicariously through mos.

j. cole working on "the warm up" mixtape.

i feel like you shouldn’t ever really critically judge music until you sit in on a studio session. then you see how much talent and hard work and grind and hustle and elbow grease it takes to be an artist.

as you can see, all that plus a mini bar does the trick for jermaine. i’m looking forward to what this “warm up” mixtape is gonna sound like. i heard it’s crazy, and features some beats from and that song at the end sounded especially vicious, didn’t it? if you need some more j. cole in your life, check the links below, they should hold you over until the mixtape’s released.
