if you ever read the first DCtoBC.com, before it got destroyed by the bastards from godaddy.com, you’ll remember the post i did about the cult classic movie, “the warriors.” i won’t rehash that, though. i need you to just throw that in the netflix queue, and enjoy a classic. one of the most intense scenes in any movie ever created is in this movie, and i’ve decided to share it with you. brace yourself.
wow. well, how many of you DC heads knew that the scene above spawned this go-go classic?
yerp. and basically, i need this song in my life. can you help me, gogo heads?
if anything, they enjoy it better than anybody other people. junkyard band shows up in maine, and puts on an incredible show for a snow white crowd! no black people in sight. i’ve been to maine, too. there really are no black people in sight. see if you can catch ol’ granny GETTIN’ it @ around :50 deep.
OH BOY! i’ve never seen a crowd so appreciative of the music. incredible. read the story about why a go-go band decided to go to maine here.
the last go-go i went to was at my school, and i saw a girl getting her ass rocked by her then-boyfriend. i’m talking about open-palmed smacks to the face, rick james style. i helped break up the fight, but the guy got a few swings in at everybody before he was escorted out by security and such. i KNOW there are people who were either there, or heard about this. the girl was really sexy, too! unfortunate. tell her i’ll treat her right if she needs me in her life. ha. all jokes aside though, it was reckless on homeboy’s part!
it was probably the craziest thing i’ve witnessed in my high school years. goodness. just an anecdote i wanted to share. thank my homie dani aka “sexy obama” for the video.

admit you got reeeeeled in by that reckless headline. truthfully, i don’t care what color his skin is. but i gotta make you guys watch my videos somehow. got’em.
my roomie ricky, aka the GOON, put me on this guy wax sometime last year, and i’ve always respected him, but never jammed him fully. well, ricky just put up a new wax video, and this time he rocks on a go-go beat (i feel like this wax guy used to live in DC at some point in his life. or still does. i need my research team to confirm this soon, so i can take this out of parentheses. thanks.). anyway, here he goes.
thoughts!? did he kill it? did he botch it!? can he flow? give me the breakdown, guys. in the meanwhile, i’ll throw you the go-go track he rhymed over. the track? "the bud" by the huck-a-bucks. oh boy, it’s a classic. it’s the joint that sampled those budweiser frogs. yeaaaah, you remember this classic, don’t you! and p.s.: i feel like go-go just gets people hype, regardless of whatever they were doing or going through before the track is put on. you hear it, and you just get happy and bop, as wax does so elegantly.
i’m putting this up again because it was overlooked, and because the dc music scene is insane right about now. bubbling in a pot, brewing and stuff, young. trust me.
shout out to young nando mcflyy who made it on the myspace monday segment of 95.5 last night. even bigger shout out to quinn, who hooked it all up. more on this later.
my homies over @ DC fab told me that DC’s premier go-go band, mambo sauce, celebrated their video’s acceptance into the VH1 soul rotation. i’m pretty sure it’s on MTV2 and probably MTV jams. only a matter of time til it hits TRL. oh boy.
pretty huge move for DC, honestly. almost as big as when ludacris performed pimpin’ all over the world with a go-go band on one of those award shows, or as when lil jon came out with that go-go record with funk flexx on that crunk juice album. it adds that visual to the entire scene.
we through the remix up (featuring tabi, wale, and more) lightyears ago on the old blog, so if you want it, hit me. too lazy to throw it up right now. i did get that video though. low budget, but incredible. don’t just watch, though. listen to what they’re saying in the verses. one of the rare go-go songs with some potent, original lyrics.
