this is like a darker “swagger like us” in my eyes, and everybody went hard, but i think eminem‘s flow alone killed the entire track. i think when people count you out so early (like they did before/after he dropped relapse), you gotta let people know you still run $#!t. no other verse stands out like em’s, at all. and i have no idea why lebron is on this artwork. but he is. embrace it.

this is by no means new. it’s eminem‘s first album, released in 1996. i figured, with all the people hating on the new album (despite it going gold in the first week) and saying he needs to go back to his original roots, why not show people how he used to rhyme. he was incredibly creative with the wordplay, but his mind had not reached dementia so he wasn’t making crazy songs that we all know today. let’s compare old em from ’96 and today’s em from ’09. you tell me which is better, and click the album art to download the album. also, check out my man kevin nottingham’s exclusive footage of eminem’s first ever interview here.

the highly-anticipated video from marshall mathers, which debuted on CINEMAX about an hour ago. sick, twisted, and somewhat brilliant. i wonder what other stuff he’ll be rapping about on the album. i’m going on record now and saying that em may sell a mill in the first week. yikes. call me crazy, but i’m going with it. he’s still my top 5 of all-time. and uh, call me crazy, but is it a coincidence that there was a rick ross look-a-like officer-esque character? let me know what you think.

marshall mathers. one of my top 7 favorite rappers. who are the other 6? not sure off the top. just know that he’s one of the best to ever do it. i used to go to sam goody the day his albums dropped. now we’re reduced to mp3′s. sigh. my man pagan let me know the joint dropped a few moments ago, so i figured i’d capitalize and post to appease other em fans out there. i wish he’d just rap without that funny accent though. it’s kinda weird, and you know i’m right.

When virtually unknown rapper Asher Roth first burst onto the scene earlier this summer, immediately came the comparisons to Eminem. Was this really valid however? Sure, they are both white, have similar vocal tones, and both happen to be talented as fuck.
While Eminem was on hiatus, up popped Asher Roth. Suburban emcee from Pennsylvania, rapping about college, sex and beer among other things. It seemed as though he was the “replacement” for Em during this time. He had a strong backing of well known names, an album in the works, and a near classic mixtape. His buzz lead him to being on the cover of the upcoming edition of XXL’s ‘Leaders Of The New School’ as well as being featured in numerous other magazines and websites. When his mixtape The Greenhouse Effect first hit the internet, the blogs and message boards were buzzing about who this Asher Roth guy was. Comment after comment praised his rhyme skill, but almost every one mentioned Eminem in one way or another.
Up until two nights ago, VIBE’s “Best Rapper Alive” has been pretty much missing-in-action for the past four or so years. Releasing the track ‘I’m Having A Relapse‘, Eminem dives into his classic style, rapping about drugs, violence, all in a signature funny accent and excellent delivery.
Now that Eminem is “back” with an album slated to be released in 2009, is there really room for Asher Roth in the rap game anymore? Will Asher be able to prove himself as more then just the Eminem stand in that people perceive him as? Is Asher Roth relevant now that Eminem is back?
