NOTE: this is a re-up. this post was at the end of ‘08, during x-mas break i believe.
so i get a text from my man john daise a few weeks ago, asking me to hit up this concert with him and some of his squad members. “little dragon, at the black cat down in DC.”
who the f*** is little dragon?!
that’s what i thought. and because of that, i didn’t make that move. days later, i did my thorough research on them. they are an electronic music band based in sweden, and they have the sexiest lead singer of all time. whoooweeee. japanese chicks just do it for me, man. so fly. and she can SING!
apparently, that DC show was their first performance in the US, and i definitely regret missing them. it’s all good, they’ll be back. anyway, allow me to put you on, and then let me know how you feel. good, bad, i don’t care. just talk about it! UPDATE: for some reason the samples won’t work for little dragon songs anymore (they probably asked my server to stop letting me put their jams up), but the downloads still work. so enjoy.
if you dig them as much as i do, you will YouTube them. they have some videos for some of their songs. and it allows you to see just how sexy she is. ha! oh, and shout out to austin purnell + john daise for putting me on to them for real.

i got my hands on a chester french joint that nobody really has yet, i believe. i’m pretty sure i heard it live when i went to see them and N*E*R*D last march over easter break, but this is the first CD quality version i’ve seen of it. i threw it around the net a few months back, but that was before the crazy buzz that they got after their video got serious rotation on all those MTV channels.
i really wish i was aware of these dudes while they were at harvard, i so would have gone to all their on-campus shows.

no download link, unfortunately. i’m tryna see their album sell, you know?
re-up because i’ve been getting a lot of e-mails about the fact that the DL link in this post is down. i don’t really care what genre of music you like. this song should appease you.
among the best songs i’ve heard all year. this guy, who could easily be mistaken for an extra in oliver twist, is actually one of the more creative electro / dance producers i’ve come across. his ear is phenomenal, as you’re about to see. PFOP put me on a few days ago, and i’ve never been so grateful.

wow. his new album, love to make music to, dropped not too long ago. i bought it on iTunes, that’s how much i support his music. hit his myspace and get familiar real quick. shout out to the dudes over @ blind i for being up on him, too.
oh, and there will definitely be a couple of people who DL the first track, and not the second. i guarantee by the end of the day, you’ll be back here DL’ing the second track, too. watch.
who is li’l vicious!? well, vicious was a young dancehall prodigy. when i say young, i mean like he was in elementary/middle school during the height of his career. i don’t have an age, but i’m sure these videos will illustrate things clearly for you. [these videos aren't something you skip. they are gems that you must watch. don't think you can just scroll past this post like it's nothing big, buddy.]
despite the bootleg YouTube clip, you can’t tell me you didn’t get up and boogie for a minute or sway for a second when that beat dropped. you probably brought it back like DJ drama, too. do you hear that isley brothers “between the sheets” sample!? and i want to meet this chick nika, she must have been something serious. oh boy. you want more!? YOU GOT IT!
wow, did you hear doug e. fresh on the beatbox?! and is it just me, or did vicious just say he got shot in the foot, so he made a song called “glock”!? who is coming at the young bo during the years he’s supposed to be playing in the sandbox with his peersl!? i guess it’s a dog eat dog world out there, and vicious just got caught up in it. it’s 2008, 14 years later, and the dancehall hitmaker hasn’t completely drifted by the wayside. he has reappeared on his myspace page with a new moniker: don vic, aka da gwop getta. i didn’t say it, he did. and his new stuff pales in comparison, so i won’t even show you any. not to mention, he’s not little anymore, so the gimmick isn’t even there.
luckily for you all, i’ve got some of his rare jams that you heard in the video for download. partake!
these joints you just DL’ed will be in rotation for a good minute, i promise. he wasn’t just a gimmick, he was a talented artist. only god knows what happened to him. and in case you don’t believe that mr. vicious has aged…

so my man TJ the DJ threw me this R&B club track from central florida’s own slow. yerp, that’s his name. there’s not that much info on the man, and i’m not even sure if he has his own myspace page or anything, but one thing’s for sure -he’s created an anthem. he looks like a trapper from the above picture (stereotypical? probably. but you know i’m right.), but homeboy can croon! he reminds me a little of the-dream mixed with t-pain without the auto-tune. you’ll see what i mean. if this blows up in the future, you heard it first here.

wow. watch kenny fly over to long strong island so he can get his arm tatted up like the subways in harlem. featuring appearances by young joc and slim from 112. and did he really throw a G-shock ad into the middle of the show?! that was amazing. ha.
and the song below is just too fitting. you need it after you watch that.

i think charles shoulda just come out with this video instead of talking out the side of his mouth! publicity stunt or not, it did some good work, because now people are ready to receive this video.
this joint ROCKS. if i had a girl from brooklyn, it would be the ultimate jam.
that sample is too vicious. where is it from! thanks to the comments section, we got the song. and i’m throwing you the track for charles’ joint, too.

these swedes are ill musicians, man. i heard of lykke li a minute ago, but it took me a while to actually get her album and put it in rotation. so far, so good. i won’t bore you with a paragraph that you won’t read, so just jam the video and let me know if you dig it. if you want more, hit me up. and for some more awesome swedish music, check out little dragon if you missed them the first time i put them up.

OH BOY!
this joint is just so wild. west philly’s sean falyon wrecks this track, and in a great way. i don’t know too much about him, besides the fact that he’s neck and neck with mia-o’s ricky ross in terms of the beard game, but he sent it to me via Twitter about three weeks ago, and i realized it was something special that i needed to spread to the masses. one of the sickest beats i’ve heard this year. crucial samples used. in fact, i’ll give $20 to whoever can tell me all the samples the producer threw in this song. $20. literally. i’ll mail it to you, hand it to you on campus, whatever. but you gotta get all the samples. e-mail me and i’ll let you know if you’ve won.

also, if you’re in DC tonight, they have their mixtape release party at CMONWEALTH. the party coincides with the release of their new clothing company, play cloths.
i don’t know how i feel about the clothing just yet, but then again if you see me rocking a shirt in a few days, you’ll see that their star trak affiliation sucked me in. oh boy.
