notorious BIG. march 9th. DCtoBC.com

that’s what rapper canibus, said about the man you see above. christopher wallace, a.k.a. the notorious B.I.G. is he the greatest? i don’t know, and i’m not here to dispute that. i do know, however, that he single-handedly changed hip hop both while living and posthumously. the prophetic emcee has every rapper borrowing lyrics and every hip hop fan listing him on their top 3 list. i first got on biggie in 5th grade. my man ben zweifach, for reasons unknown, had the “life after death” double-disc album in his room one day. i asked to borrow it, and i was a fan ever since. i also never returned the album, which went diamond (10 million copies) in 2000.

today’s the anniversary of his death, so i wanted to show my respect. i got biggie joints on all day in the iTunes. feel free to throw your favorite biggie songs/verses/bars/moments in the comment section so everybody can reminisce. also, scoop this remix to one more chance, featuring his son, CJ wallace, rapping alongside him. it’s cool, trust.

shakirstewartsmall R.I.P. shakir stewart.

damn.

i remember when me and brian were up in that small ass cubicle at def jam, and shakir walked past. i was being stupid when i yelled, "i wanna work for you shakir!" and he turned around and laughed. nobody in that building was that chill, and you already know who i’m talking about when i say that. people wouldn’t even want you to hop in the elevator at the same time as them. he was the guy who would say, "yo, hop in here son!" so although i didn’t know the guy too well, i did work in the A&R department and i know he was vital to that building. he brought us acts like jeezy and ross, and with that track record alone you know the man had talent. coolest dude in that place, without a doubt. i feel like it was some other $#!t that led to this fuckery, though that’s just me…

that’s all i’ll say about that. rest in peace, sir. and shout out to def jam during these times, man. they work hard over there. if you didn’t hear, read the billboard article.
