dom kennedy is one of the few new dudes out on the left coast that caught me immediately. after i heard that “watermelon sundae” i quickly acquired anything and everything i could get my hands on of his. i wasn’t aware this was dropping so suddenly, and actually got word via twitter. what a pleasant surprise.
the first two (25th hour mixtape up and future street / drug sounds) still get regular rotation in my iTunes, and they say third time’s a charm, so maybe this mixtape will be the one to make the masses believe he’s a serious contender in this new age rap game. spots have yet to be solidified, and i’m rooting for him, but my word doesn’t mean a damn thing. regardless, i want to know how you feel. leave your thoughts in the comment section; i’m leaving you with a couple of sample tracks to jam, as well as the download link below. oh, and shout out to the los angeles leakers for mixing and mastering this joint. what a trill name to have. ha. enjoy.

plus, check this video out from his last mixtape, FutureStreet/DrugSounds, “Of All Time”, featuring BJ the Chicago Kid. pretty trill. dom isn’t playin’.
ok, it’s not really a deluxe edition at all. it’s just all 3 discs in one file. a re-up, too.
turbo . you may have heard about him before. we’ve covered him a couple times. his concepts and ideas are pretty unique. i don’t really like describing music; it’s a thing you just gotta jam and find out for yourself. so click the album art above to download the mixtape. i’ll give you a sample video.
GET YOUR TURBO GAME UP NOW! F*** MAINSTREAM! THIS MAN CAN SPIT!
incredible. i’m throwing this out there: my girl amber from the left coast can attest that i knew about this song before the masses. i just gotta say it. whatever camera they use in this video is too crisp. watch it, and start jerkin’. i’m trying to bring it over here to the mid-atlantic region.
that’s what leimert park’s dom kennedy prefers for breakfast.

see!?but let’s just say he preferred tropicana instead of florida’s natural like he states. do you think he’d eventually get used to the horrible new packaging of the nation’s premium orange juice?
now i know you’ve come across these hideously designed cartons in the past few months, and were angered. i know i was. i went to my local supermarket over x-mas break and, upon arriving to the juice aisle, felt like i had been betrayed. where was my bright, round orange with the barbershop straw stabbed right in the center of it? this new joint looked like it was costco brand. they tried to make it too chic! it’s just orange juice. nothing screams “fresh” like that orange. i rolled with minute maid that day. remember the good old days!?!?
well, the good news is that the PepsiCo owned juice company decided to revert things back to their original design, scrapping their multi-million dollar ad campaign and re-design/packaging costs. at least, that’s what i hear from these guys. stay tuned to whether or not that actually happens.
shout out to the kids over at media zombies for the info. i thought this was worth discussing. lol. i hope you did too. at the very least, you got a new dom kennedy song in the iTunes.
so my designer and i have been working closely to add the illest, trillest things of all time to this site. if you saw it that first day it was up, you’ll see the progress we’ve made. it’s coming along pretty smoothly, but it’s only about 70% done right now. i just had to throw it up to show people that we were actually trying to make this site something special as opposed to being all talk. T.I. said that "ya mouth writes checks that ya ass can’t cash", and i didn’t want to upset mr. rubberband man by being one of those dudes.
still tryna develop some unique, innovative content for this MONDAY official launch. yeah, i just came up with that randomly. but i figure we can bang it all out by monday, the 26th. shout out to my man dustin, who has been working diligently on this project for the last month or so. he is the most ridiculously talented kid i know (via the internet. yikes. but we have mutual friends, though. i think. that’s what facebook said.) and he’s only a freshman in school. go to the bottom of the page to holler at him if you need a page made.
but that’s what i’ve got for you. so please, spread the word and let people know that things are about to get kinda live. like this homeless beatboxer’s career after executives saw this video:
"for smokin’ on that grand daddy! make you wanna smack ya grand mammy!"
oh boy. did you like that!? i got a mp3, studio quality. kind of. some guy just went on YouTube, snatched this acapella, and put a beat over it. but it’s nice enough to be in rotation in my iTunes. enjoy.

admit you got reeeeeled in by that reckless headline. truthfully, i don’t care what color his skin is. but i gotta make you guys watch my videos somehow. got’em.
my roomie ricky, aka the GOON, put me on this guy wax sometime last year, and i’ve always respected him, but never jammed him fully. well, ricky just put up a new wax video, and this time he rocks on a go-go beat (i feel like this wax guy used to live in DC at some point in his life. or still does. i need my research team to confirm this soon, so i can take this out of parentheses. thanks.). anyway, here he goes.
thoughts!? did he kill it? did he botch it!? can he flow? give me the breakdown, guys. in the meanwhile, i’ll throw you the go-go track he rhymed over. the track? "the bud" by the huck-a-bucks. oh boy, it’s a classic. it’s the joint that sampled those budweiser frogs. yeaaaah, you remember this classic, don’t you! and p.s.: i feel like go-go just gets people hype, regardless of whatever they were doing or going through before the track is put on. you hear it, and you just get happy and bop, as wax does so elegantly.
ricky and i were just talking about how crazy/bipolar this guy is. but i’m about the music, and there’s no denying that he kills this track, alongside common sense.

you know how there’s a few big names out there that you think you’d be best friends with if you actually knew them? well, turbo is that guy to me.
one of my favorite budding artists out. completely different from ANYTHING YOU’VE EVER HEARD! i promise you. here’s what had capcom, the creators of the world famous street fighter video game franchise, to book him for shows at video game conferences across the country:
yerp. made a damn song about balrog. even the newspapers & lupe know about him, man. check the rest of them here. “vega cut” is my JAM. he was also our second interview on DCtoBC.com radio about a year ago. i know we recorded that show, so anybody who has it, throw it my way ASAP!
anyway, the louisiana-born, cali-bred embraced the fact that 8.8.08 will only come once. why not release the latest in his newest electro rock mixtapes on this blessed day? he sent me disc one of the three disc, super mixtape, and i don’t want to leak the entire thing. let me throw you a couple joints.

i’m hyping the mixtape all month, as each disc drops in 8 day increments (the 8th, the 16th, the 24th). talk about a marketing campaign. t-double, i see you out there. look out for more turbo literally all month. because i’m that serious. hit him on that youtube page to get the old mixtapes, too. all fire.
feel free to snatch the joints and post them everywhere. because if you don’t, somebody else will beat you to it. and you won’t be able to say you just put a rack of people on.
