Chester French – Jacques Jams, Vol. 1: Endurance [Re-Upped w/ Working Link].

chester french - jacques jams. DCtoBC.com

i have been waiting for this for weeks, and it’s finally here. star trak’s newest signees, rockstars chester french, deliver a mixtape free album just two weeks before their debut drops in stores everywhere. i’m serious.

as band members D.A. and Max explain,

“Jacques Jams, Vol. 1: Endurance” is a chronicle of the past six years of our lives. It tells our story, from the gymnasiums of Harvard to the hills of Hollywood. Unlike “Love the Future,” which we’ve written, arranged, performed, produced, and engineered by ourselves, “Jacques Jams” features a collection of new, original music that we created in the hills of Massachusetts and then invited some of our favorite artists to grace.

As young artists, we couldn’t be more grateful for this opporunity to collaborate with legends like Jermaine Dupri, Diddy, Pharrell, Pusha, Talib Kweli, Bun B., The Mad Rapper, Kardinal Offishall, N.O.R.E, and Jadakiss as well as younger friends like Janelle Monae, Cassie, Wale, Solange, Lady Gaga, and Mickey Factz. All of these fantastic artists have been more than generous with their creativity and hard work, so we owe them an enormous debt. Clinton Sparks, above all, has tirelessly guided us toward success and endurance, a tall order with obnoxious perfectionists like us! We’d also like to thank Clinton’s manager, Daouda Leonard, for his endless help and beautifully manicured beard.”

so there you have it. what mixtape album has this many incredible guests on it? like, go back up and read the names in bold. i bolded them so you could see whose on the tape. no other rock act has this much pull, i’ll tell you that much. i’ve seen these guys live twice, and they were incredible. i implore you to scoop this freebie right here. it’s gonna be the best thing you’ve heard in a minute. seriously. the star power is way too serious on this joint.

stussy x commonwealth inauguration event footage!
Saturday January 24th 2009, 1:45 am

my man adrian hooked me up with vimby’s crucial footage of a definite highlight from over inauguration weekend, the stussy x commonwealth inaugural bash. check it below.

everybody came out. wale was in there posted like a lamp, 9th wonder was spinning classics on the 1’s and 2’s, bun b was leaning a bit, and yelling out every word of every track 9th threw on the turntables (in a much higher-pitched voice than i would have expected. i mean, i’m not saying he had a high-pitched voice. but go listen to those tracks, his voice is booming. in person, it doesn’t really sound like that. just a mere observation. i know there are some co-signers out here on that statement!) i arrived as david banner was being escorted into the store from his luxurious whipsicle, and saw the big ass crowd that a party with this type of hype attracts. i was taken aback, but  luckily i caught j.ben.ok outside, and him and jay promo got me in that joint with the quickness. shout out to those two, otherwise i’d still be out in the cold.

once i got in there, it was glorious. i got a chance to chop it up with everybody. dizzy was in there, taking flicks like the local celebrity he is. X.O. and benji were in there having a great time. i finally met oddisee, the man who i used to harrass to help me make beats back two years ago. really cool guy, and my favorite producer out of the DMV by far. he can rap too, look out for some of his new stuff on here soon! oh, and  i had to school VJ on his twitter game, because it was limbo pole low. yikes. met a bunch of cool people, and saw some of the sexiest ladies i’ve ever seen in the area. i always feel like they only come out on nights like that, because i can’t ever find them otherwise. somebody tell them to holler at me, man. you already know i’m a shy guy.

highlight of the night? my man lucas hooked me up with the collector’s tees. you know i’m frugal, but i had to let people know i was around for the day history was made. 1.20.09, aka “yes we did day” in my book.

stussy x cmonwealth tees. DCtoBC.com

shout out to everybody who came out, and to stussy and commonwealth, for putting on something special, and adrian and the others involved in the coordination. that whole DMV scene, if i can call it that without sounding lame, is a great community. happy i’m a part of it.

xxl79pimpc1 master p feat. pimp c and bun b break 'em off somethin'.

it’s december 4th today. and while it is jay-z’s birthday, it’s also the 1st anniversary of the death of UGK’s chad butler, better known as pimp c. i don’t have a lot of words, except that he has been missed in the rap game dearly. he was one of those dudes who never held his tongue. i could give write a tribute, but i would rather point you in the direction of a very polished one here. and i could give you his greatest hits, but i’d rather just throw you a rare gem that people overlook. listen to the second verse. that’s when the pimp takes over and wrecks it. mayne, hol’ up! shout out to noz for throwing this my way per request!

rawss let the ricky rawrse diss fest commence.

oh boy. i don’t mean to add insult to injury, but he asked for it. butta verses is the first MC brave enough to throw lyrical jabs in the boss’ direction for his correctional officer fiasco. never heard of this guy, so it’s almost certainly a publicity stunt, but it’s friday. anything goes. enjoy.

rawrse the boss should have kept things 100.

yeah, that’s right. the mia-o’s most charismatic fat man besides dj khaled has been rocked. his career is essentially all but over.

what happened? well, fellow miami resident and OG rapper trick daddy called rick ross out, alleging that he worked in law enforcement as a correctional officer aka prison guard. AKA he is a fraud, a fake, a hoax. because no drug slinging rapper should have ever dabbled their hands in law enforcement! don’t ask me how trick daddy came up with the facts, but here was rawrse’s response:

wow. looking a bit nervous there, ricky. i gave him the benefit of the doubt, until i came across this…

ricky ross the boss. at work.

damn. william roberts? if this is for real, i smell the end of the boss’ reign. shoulda just come clean early and did some damage control. when the smoking gun is talking about matching up your social security ID with the man in that picture, you’re pretty much screwed. i’m just saying though. he shoulda kept it one hunnit.

take a page out of a legend’s book, and grab that track you hear on the top of the page.

phone fruit bowl.

080604 iPhoneBlackberry hmed 830ahm phone fruit bowl.

apple’s iphone, or RIM’s blackberry? see those fruits!? i’m poor, so i don’t really know if this post is something i should even refer to. but the summer is here, people are getting paid, and money is burning holes in those pockets. so you might as well step the cellular game up.

the coolest thing to have is a fly phone. it’s 2008. if you don’t have a mobile device that does something major, you’re minor. the US market has basically narrowed it down to either a blackberry or an iphone. each of these companies have crucial joints dropping soon; apple and their faster, more powerful, and sleeker 3G iphone, and RIM’s vibrant and competitive blackberry bold. honestly, it’s about preference. i’m a die hard blackberry fan, and i can never do a touch screen. an iphone isn’t really even an option for me. but for everyone else out there, the iphone blog did an in-depth breakdown between the two titans. i figured i’d throw this up so people can make their decision a little more easily. clearly the comparison is a bit biased, but i think that the dude keeps it 100 with us for the most part.

and huge shout out to my man stan, who keeps me up to date on my phone $#!t.
