star linebacker mark herzlich has been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer known as Ewing's sarcoma. DCtoBC.com

if you’re a boston college student or football fan, you may have heard that that in may, star linebacker mark herzlich was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer known as ewing’s sarcoma. i recently came across an inspiring article about how mark has been dealing with his current situation, and his optimism definitely brightened up my week. something i think everybody should read. check it out here.

i didn’t know mark well, but he lived on our hall, all the way on the other end, and was not the stereotypical athlete. humble, funny, and inviting. he even hooked me and ricardo up with some freeze pops once! for no good reason! he just had them on deck, and at the floor meeting, gave them out. those are the kind of people i admire, and he is in my prayers.

Picture1 3 BC swag!!!
this is for my BC brethrens.
so i’m browsing on my homie london’s blog, and i see her advertising for this site. it’s called BC swag, and apparently, they just give BC students hella swag, aka FREE STUFF. i went to chamillionaire’s album preview session with my homies nick and erin, and they gave us swag bags, but they were kinda weaksauce. BC swag looks more official, man. i’m talking food, movie tickets, PLANE tickets, promotional sh!t, crucial gear, and much more. i figured i’d do the right thing like spike lee and spread the good word. so check it out, enter the raffles, scheme and plot a little bit, and let me know if you get anything vicious. enjoy!

roots the roots @ BC [update].

the roots in concert @ BC

friday, september 12 in conte forum. $20 per ticket.

my UGBC connect told me that tickets are officially on sale from monday – friday during business hours in robsham theatre (no max # of tickets, but they will ask for a BC ID when buying it just to make sure it is BC affiliated). no need for a BC ID at the doors though, so anyone from around here can come in for the show.

oh, and apparently young money’s tyga is opening up for these guys. i personally think these guys attract two different demographics, and a few other artists would have been better picks, but you tell me how you feel about that.

thank the people over at UGBC for this special fall concert. seating is general admission, with the doors opening at 7 pm for the 8 pm show.

olympics 2008 olympics 2008.

blogging? no sir. the next 16 days of my life will be spent on my couch, watching the greatest sporting event ever created with comcast’s HD digital cable, while hustling people on eBay for some extra cash. want to know when you can catch kayaking, trampoline, handball, and other obscure sports? click here for beijing 2008 olympic schedule.

i missed the opening ceremony though. somebody needs to throw me a youtube link for that joint, please.

OH! and if you didn’t know, my man charlie davies, former boston college student and current superstar footballer (read: soccer player) in sweden, was selected to be one of the team’s four forwards for the olympic team. look out for him thrashing bammas with reckless abandon on that field. they play the netherlands on the 10th, and nigeria on the 13th. oh boy.

340x olympics 2008.

yeah, i said it. boston college is officially on the small screen.

stephanie, my teaching assistant from my advanced ad campaign class is on diddy’s new VH1-assisted quest for his newest personal assistant, i want to work with diddy, and she’s looking more beautiful than ever. don’t let the good looks fool you, though; she single handedly RAN the research and marketing team in class. shout out to steph and especially to clairesse on the A- i got.

i’m keeping tags on this woman. i need e-mail updates from the loyal DCtoBC’ers on stephanie’s whereabouts, her actions, any bows she throws, any tears she sheds, all that good stuff. she’s about to make BC  proud.

“this is diddy’s dough! you have to be serious about this!”

she’s already landing quotables! let’s get it, steph! read more about the show here, and tune in every monday @ 9 pm, eastern standard time. i have to say that cuz we got people over on the west coast who like my steelo. ha, i kid. but really though. watch it.

is that a BC beanie, hancock?

box office hancock is that a BC beanie, hancock?

i’m like 73% sure it is. this movie had so much potential. but the fact that america now has a solid black superhero (besides meteor man, blank man. and all the rest of the fake-me-out joints) has overridden the actual fact that the movie wasn’t too good.  but diddy loved it, and his word goes. so it did blockbuster numbers at the box office.

cousin wale also came with a pretty thorough review, so peep that too.

and he’s rocking a damn BC beanie.

HUGE update. my man barron from pocket full of paper has thrown me the crucial alley oop.

hancock beanie on ebay. get it now.

home sweet home!

i’m in the house right now. laying in my parent’s bed, watching kobe and the lakers rock kirilenko and the jazz. and it’s the 3rd quarter…looking something like this:

369253026 e7d0d23bbc home sweet home!

good grief. remember when everyone in the world hated kobe? he was public enemy #1…a rapist in the eyes of the WORLD. now he’s the NBA’s mvp, rockin’ bammas and stuff, young. and he’s even a family man. don’t believe me!?

captd1c6f8092c0a43329edc8db1240dd7e home sweet home!

told ya. easily the best player in the league. swag is similar to MJ’s. i’m calling the lakers champions right now, by the way. their starting five is ALL scorers.

can we talk about home though? damn. i finally made it. 3 suitcases, a backpack, and a U-Haul (thanks, marcel) later. first thing i did? burned some CD’s for the stereo downstairs, because i’m home alone like macaulay culkin. i have the entire house to blast the most bass-heavy joints i have in the iTunes. then i hit the diner. and tomorrow morning, i’m picking up grand theft auto IV from that best buy on rockville pike. then i’m done for the week. i heard the game is so good, you start walking around in real life, acting like you’re the main character. chappelle told me.

oh boy. nyc on friday to peep the apartment in brooklyn. holler at me if you’re around for the day. 3 days til glow in the dark tour in DC, 4 days til the glow in the dark in VA beach. yea, i got two ticket joints. let’s get it. i would bless you all with music, but i’ma leave it to my homies at 2 dope boyz. they got all the good stuff, anyway.

the game is 93-83 @ the end of the 3rd, with the lakers up. we aren’t losing this game. yea, i’m a lakers fan. cali trip? in a few weeks. whose tryna make the move?
