one of the elite rappers in DC is back. and i apologize for not posting it yesterday, but as you can see by the lack of posts, school got me wtih an okeydoke.
no matter. crazy beats (from homies duncan and BKS), ridiculously potent lyrics, and that’s all i can say. it’s just real. universal music for everybody. best mixtape i’ve heard since A.B.’s joint. here’s the sample of what you should expect on X.O.’s latest effort, and the download link is below.

off of When Fish Ride Bicycles, coming soon. i can’t even pinpoint why i really dig these guys. maybe it’s because mikey rocks the illest troop jackets that not even the most thorough vintage store shopping or google search can locate. maybe it’s because their beats are triller than trill. or maybe it’s because they just spit some simple stuff that i can always get down with. either way, i’m a fan. and do you hear those whistles!? insanity.
i sent this mixtape to people in an email before even posting it. meaning i didn’t care that they got it from my site. i just wanted them to hear m1. and i swear to god this joint is incredible. nothing sounds like this at all. if you appreciate GOOD HIP HOP, then m1 platoon should be in your iPod, iTunes, boombox, car stereo, and every other place you can jam some music.
you haven’t heard about these dudes? well, they’re a rack of homies (most of which are from DC. just throwing that out there) who go to school out in north carolina, and who happen to have 9th wonder, producer extraordinaire, as their professor. i’m not even lying. so with 9th as their mentor, imagine what kind of music they create. in fact, you don’t even have to imagine, because i got it all for you right here. featuring biz markie, carlitta durand, g5 clive, and savin. oh, and huge shout out to vaughn aka arafat yates, one of the rhymers/producers in the squad. one of the few guys who gets really excited about music in general. i respect those kind of cats out there. without further ado, i’m throwing you the mixtape, complete with taste tests.

and i honestly struggled giving you 3 samples, because there’s too many joints on this mixtape that are must-hears. i’ve never heard such improvement from one mixtape to another. lyrics, beats, overall cohesiveness. damn. THIS SHIT IS INSANE! i’ve never heard anything like it. that’s probably why they called this joint “we not them.” good grief. i’m hyped. everybody needs to enjoy this. and if my words didn’t move you to download this, then click the link and see how many people already have got it. that’ll probably move you a bit. ha. wzup scoopay, chopps, sean d, c4 black, napalm…i see all you guys.
i know i’ve been semi-neglecting music from the DMV as of recent, but it’s because i’ve been waiting for this event. it’s finally here. it’s the one year anniversary of the biggest producer showcase in the DC metropolitan area. everybody who’s anybody from the urea will be out there, but i don’t need to repeat the same $#!t that’s already all over the flyer.
i was at a beatdown event over the summer, and it was insanity. if you make rap or make beats, PLEASE do not fake – this is where you need to be tomorrow. don’t believe me? my man austin (he was in that roberta flack video!) got to the semi-finals in the competition, and the next week was selling beats for $300 a pop to some dudes who heard him there.
oh, and check us out – official sponsors of the event, along side my fellow blog homies (wzup ges , wzup dylan ). it feels good to have your logo next to one of the most crucial clothing stores around. SHOUT OUT TO MY DUDE OVEROK , as well as ALL THE DUDES OVER @ INNER LOOP FOR COORDINATING THIS AWESOME EVENT! and judah , WHAT UP!
starts @ 9, ends @ 2:30.
and contrary to popular belief, SEXY GIRLS FREQUENT EVENTS LIKE THIS TOO, so get ready to spit that game. or get game spat to you. whatever you fancy, for real.
detailed agenda (location, time of events, etc.) after the drop.
