2010 07 12 NEW NERD1 1024x768 N*E*R*D Inside Of Clouds [Extended Version].

Oooh, buddy! This is like an easter egg for die-hard N*E*R*D fanatics.

The album leaked yesterday. No, I will not share it. I will, however, toss you this extended version of one of the album’s highlights, “Inside The Clouds”, that made its way to the surface of the earth today. The album version was a huge tease to see what else they could have gone with the track, and lucky for us, they tossed us a full version, which is available on the Japanese edition of Nothing. This joint is reminiscent of those minor chord-heavy jams that were all over the first album.

So my marvelous Twitter follower @TGIME just hipped me to TheNeptunes.org article on this joint, which basically says that this dude just took a program to that regular version of “Inside of Clouds” and flipped it! This isn’t any official remix! There is, however, a snippet for a different song that is apparently a Amazon.com bonus track! Grab that here, and HUGE shout out to TheNeptunes.org for always being the most up-to-date on what’s going on with these guys. Enjoy.

Oh, and the guys over at Madbury Club reviewed the album. I’m not pleased about their words, but I respect them, so I’ll let you guys see for yourself.

12 Rob Roy Carmencita [Video].

This is incredible.

So if you remember last year’s Single Awareness Day mix [S.A.D. 2] that I dropped, you’ll remember quite possibly your favorite track from the joint, Rob Roy’s “Carmencita”, and how hard it went.

Well, my girl Nicole from Dub Frequency informed me that they dropped a video today, and she hooked me up like the cable guy did my TV earlier today. Watch, enjoy, embrace, and spread the word.

Rob’s project is available on iTunes…I rarely buy music, but I bought this joint a while ago. His flow is outrageous, and he’s not your typical artist (at all). I hope this stamp will force you to do some Google research and find him. Or, you can just check out the last stuff I posted by him. Links below.

01 En Route To Boston For The Weekend.

Press play.

Why Boston, you ask? Well, I spent the most awesome four years of my life there (BC stands for Boston College, you dope! What the hell are you here for if you didn’t know that!?), so it’s only right that I pay my respects.

I haven’t been back to Boston for a while; last time I made that move, it was a 24-hour mission. This time, it’ll be a full-fledged attempt at a proper Beantown power move. I’m covering all bases like Babe Ruth in his prime, dude. I’m talking everywhere from my alma mater to my old barber shop. I may even go on one of these:

ducktour En Route To Boston For The Weekend.

I’m recruiting a squadron of go-getters to guide me in a land I now consider foreign. This will be the first time that Boston College isn’t my base (who wants to be that old guy who graduated years ago, right?!), so I’ll be forced to embrace the city as opposed to its colleges. I don’t even think I have warm clothes for this trip. Oh well. Let’s go. I got two cameras, no shape-up, and a whole lot of jokes to tell to these Bostonians!

If you’re out around that way, I’m there from now until early Monday. Hit me up – business, pleasure, or a combination of the two.  modi[at]DCtoBC.com or @DCtoBC on Twitter Nation. Let’s get it.

11 James Pants x Undercult At the Denim Bar!

DC’s newest men’s lifestyle collective Undercult is throwing another event with Stones Throw recording artist James Pants on Wednesday, October 21st (tomorrow) at Denim Bar in Bethesda from 7-10pm, and you should fall through! Jam some of the James Pants x Undercult mix below as you read the rest.

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

They’ll also be jamming fellow Stones Throw producing prodigy Madlib‘s Madlib Medicine Show #10: Black Soul, which isn’t even out yet. At the very least, come hear what one of LA’s most eccentric producer’s been cookin’ up for the past few months (or years; you never know with this guy).

Food and drinks (sushi, beer, wine, etc.) as well as shopping discounts from the Denim Bar will be at your fingertips, too. I’ll most likely either be in New York scoping out a CMJ real quick or in Boston running amok, but hopefully I’ve encouraged you to make an appearance and introduce yourself to these cool kids. Look out for Undercult’s full-fledged online space to launch November 7th (you can still see some cool stuff here), and find them on Twitter Nation, too. Shout out to Kevin.

Another N*E*R*D leak, guys. Another feel-good track, but I hope this isn’t a highlight on their album. You know me, though. My N*E*R*D bar is sky high. I only want the best from them, as you can imagine! Their fourth project, Nothing, is slated for November 2nd.

Kevin Robinson from uNCovered 3rd P.R. Goes HAM On Some Bloggers [VIDEO]!

Okay, that was a shock value title. Well, not really. Kevin Robinson, the man behind uNCovered 3rd Public Relations did indeed go a little HAM in this video blog. In his words:

“I have been dealing with some writers/bloggers whom think they are too “busy” to respond to my e-mails when they were begging to interview my artists when they first started writing and blogging for their sites/magazines.”
To this I say: “fair enough.” I figured I’d give him a listen. I respect Kevin and his hustle, because he’s been on it for a while. I used to get e-mails from Kevin until I asked to get off his e-mail lists because I realized that I never really posted submissions in the first place. But you guys who read DC to BC faithfully know how it works…it’s not just a music blog. That’s besides the point, though. He does have a trill line-up of artists that he represents, including Dom Kennedy, one of my favorite artists at the moment. So let’s see what he says about these writers and bloggers:

I appreciated his vlog, but left his Vimeo page a little feedback. Since it’d be a hassle for you guys to go to his page and read it all, I’m copying and pasting it below.
“haha.

i think this is pretty awesome. but you haven’t ever thought about things from the perspective of the smaller writer/blogger’s point of view. i’ll break it down really quickly:

1. for some people, it’s a hobby and not a job.
2. for those who take it as a hobby, their e-mail response game isn’t trained like a professional, which means they don’t have a strategic approoach to their e-mails and kind of read the ones they already know what to expect, or don’t understand that they should open everything.
3. maybe that artist that you’re pitching them doesn’t catch their interest! sure, a response would be awesome, but shit, everybody got stuff to do. when you’re not getting paid for things, the entire game is different.

i think the key would be to call these guys out, so that they can rebuttal and then conversation can start. regardless, i respect this lol. i like how you took it to the internet. i also wish that more people saw this. maybe this is worth a blog post in itself…”

So here we are, with the blog post. Hopefully this sheds more light on this conversation, because I always thought about how people looked at writers / bloggers, especially when they haven’t even met them. I think people may take a non-response as a snub when sometimes it actually has nothing to do with that. It could be a mistake or miscommunication; every website doesn’t operate the same way, either. Any thoughts on this? I’m all about opening conversation up to those involved. If not here, bring it to Twitter: @DCtoBC.

ddm tour ad mat high res 796x1024 Duck Down 15 Year Anniversary Tour Ticket Giveaway!

Yerp, you read that blog post title correctly. The Duck Down 15 Year Anniversary Tour makes its DC stop today, and I’m lucky enough to have two (2) tickets to give to a lucky die-hard DC to BC reader / hip-hop aficionado.

To win these, all you gotta do is e-mail me at info[at]DCtoBC.com and tell me:

1. Why you rock with DC to BC.

2. Why you want these Duck Down tickets.

When I gave away Wale “Chillin’” tees, a guy swallowed some worms to get one. When I gave away tickets to Rock The Bells, Bryan of Go-Fresco sent this in. And when I gave away the Virgin Mobile Free Fest tickets, Ebony went HAM with this. What I’m alluding to is the fact that DC to BC die-hards are actually die-hards. They’re regular folk who go above and beyond to hit up great events such as this awesome hip-hop concert. So come with some kinda heat, or don’t bother entering.

It’s like 11 now, and I need the winner’s name by 4pm. See what magic you can make happen in the five hours. I’ll be back at around 4 with an update, and if the winner did anything worth sharing with you guys, I’ll put it up.

General info for those too shy to show what they’re made of to get some free tickets:

What: Duck Down 15 Year Anniversary Tour
Who: Pharoahe Monch,  Boot Camp Clik featuring Buckshot,  Sean Price,  and Smif N Wessun, and Skyzoo. DJ Evil Dee
When: Monday,  Oct. 18th,  2010
Where: Liv, 2001 11th St NW, doors at 8pm
Ticket info: Tix $20 – http://bit.ly/ac1nN1

Also, if you’d like to meet and greet these marvelous emcees, then fall through Commonwealth DC from 6-8pm. Drinks, music, and great people.  All that info is in that flyer below.

wow. talk about incredible. snagged this vid from notes from a different kitchen, who got it from d-nice’s blog. a few words on it from the creator:

This is the story of a homeless rapper I met on the streets of Brooklyn. There’s a part of me that feels for him because it’s quite obvious he suffered a great deal as a child. But it’s hard to show sympathy for a man who has lived life the way he has. I guess everyone deserves to be forgiven.”

weight loss Tahirs Daniel Craig in Casino Royale / Brad Pitt in Troy ÜberWorkout.

i’m just playing. don’t go the “suicide” route. the thing the flow chart fails to tell you is that if you take that route, you won’t be alive to enjoy the fact that you are no longer fat.

truthfully, the reason i’m posting this is because my homie tahir (@tahirtweets, follow the man, he’s a director-in-the-making, so you heard about him first here. or maybe somewhere else. but here as well.) wrote me up a POWERFUL workout plan after i asked him how he went from the average local joker to this guy:

tahir1 Tahirs Daniel Craig in Casino Royale / Brad Pitt in Troy ÜberWorkout.

that’s tahir. embrace his fitness for a little bit. i mean, let’s be real. the man is in solid shape. the shape that most of us have been aiming for since we were in middle school. and frankly, enough is enough. we’ve gotta join him. he’s promoting a healthy lifestyle that many of us don’t embrace, so let’s get it! most blogs don’t do this. but i’m not most blogs; far from it. hopefully you regulars know that by now. the newbies, you’ll get the gist fairly quickly.

before i digress, here’s the workout. if you just wanna glance at it, check it after the drop. if you’d like to download, the link is below. it’s a word document, 3 pages long, and written in such a way that you can follow easily and feel where he’s coming from. i believe it’s something that both a male and a female could do. i’m dropping this today, friday august 7, so you can download now, and after partying and such, come monday, you can start the week right. hit the comment section if you’re confused or have questions, as tahir will be on-call, responding as quickly as an online technician for best buy or t-mobile would.
