If you know me, you know I ride or die for Gilbert Arenas. I won’t lie like I’ve always been on the bandwagon; when he was shipped over from Golden State, the majority of Washington’s sports fans had almost no faith in his abilities on the court. That quickly changed after he started yelling “hibachi!” (the name of a super-hot Japanese grill. As in, “I’m on fire. Let’s f***ing GO!”) after his jumpers and fried anybody who stepped up to the challenge. I’m still talking sh!t to people about how he treated Kobe like a high schooler, dropping 60 in a 147-141 OT victory around Christmas time ’06. But his latest stunt was ridiculous. What was even more disappointing is that he decided the best way to deal with the situation was to get on Twitter Nation and start tweeting about everything. And he thought that was okay.
He’s gotta be kidding me. Yeah, our franchise was already in shambles, but that was the straw that broke the camel’s back. And that camel had already had like 3 or 4 operations prior to this, so this was a trusty ass camel! Anyway, NBA Commissioner David Stern hit Agent Zero with an indefinite suspension, which means for each game he misses, he loses $147,000 of his multi-million dollar contract. We probably won’t see him with a Wizards jersey on ever again. It’s a sad, sad day in the DC metropolitan area.
I won’t attempt to tell you about Gilbert’s previous mishaps and fiascos, because Complex already did that. I will, however, share a couple screen shots of some of his ridiculous tweets. Although I’m very disappointed in this guy and his inability to take matters seriously, these tweets put a smile on my face.

It’s only so far Gil can carry a team. The Wiz still lack a definitive low post presence and with Antawn Jamison out it only magnifies that weakness more. IF 0 can stay healthy for the full season they have a chance to make the playoffs but with him not having played a full season in a few years one can only speculate about how his body and his conditioning will hold up….
The whole city is behind the Wiz with the Skins stinking it up right now but my prediction is that they will end up in the same boat. Caps are the cities only hope.

werd, Gil’s about to wreck havoc this year…last night was his comeback statement and it was pretty loud lol…only team capable of taking the Wiz down are Boston and Orlando IMO

Chill with this dude…Orlando is about to embark on the league-wide ass whooping. We are nasty! And we don’t even have our highest payed player on the court right now, Sweet Lew. Dwight didn’t even play in the forth and put up 21-15. You know we’re nasty when JJ Redick is scoring 10 points and dishing out 4 assists in a game…The Magic are going to do exactly what the Lakers did, lose a championship and them come back and rape everything in their path. It doesn’t hurt that we got God on our side either…
So DC may make the playoffs, but who cares they ain’t making the finals with their Big 3. It’s a shame too cause Agent Zero is one of the nicest professional athletes I have every met…he should come be our 6th man in Orlando!

It is not just about Gil’s return this season, although that will be a large part of how we do this season. This team has changed tremendously just since last season. The additions of Oberto, Miller, and Foye will contribute to an explosive bench that will be fully utilized by Flip Saunders, instead of the coaching inadequacy that is Eddie Jordan.

I was really disappointed by all of this. I read the WaPo article detailing the situation and it seemed like some stupid high school hijinks… with guns. I really don’t know how either of them thought it was okay; I mean, the simplest way they can put it is: “I was just playing with my gun at work.” All types of wrong.
Between Portis and JC and this, we should have a Real Athletes of DC instead of a Real World DC… much more drama =/

I dont even know what to say. Gilbert knows that hes being watched just like every other athlete.So you would think that he would keep it together. Wrong and the whole twitter thing just blows mines. Seriously that was foolish. Gilbert is the man tho lol.

This is one of the more depressing sports stories of my lifetime. Gil is one of my favorite athletes ever, and while this was extremely foolish, no way does he deserve to go down like this.

horrible decision on his part but he wasn’t suspended for bringing the guns in… he was suspended because of his behavior afterwards. U can’t joke about things like that when you’re in a position where everything can be taken from you, ask Plaxico. He should’ve handled it like Vick and just kinda sat back, said sorry and nothing else. But we all know that’s not Gil. And u can’t tell me u didn’t see this coming, Artest got a year for fighting, why wouldn’t Gil get suspended for bringing guns into DC much less the Verizon center. I’da been in cufs that day if i brought a water gun in there. I hope he makes it back but I really think at some point the Wiz Kids need to let go of Gil cuz whether or not it’s his fault he has let this team down time and time again.
