The Clipse host an exclusive listening party/signing to play some their new album that drops December 8th Til The Casket Drops. Pusha T takes the reigns from the beginning, with Malice making a cameo somewhere in there for show. The younger of the Thronton brothers discusses the philosophy behind a few of the songs, as well as explains the creative process of the new album.They also speak a little bit on label drama and their Play Cloths clothing line. Talk about hustlers. Shout out to videographer Adam Saewitz and my man KQuick for throwing the footage my way.

Hot damn! The album has a whole rack of trunk rattlers. I heard P produced like 7 tracks, but I may be way off on that. Sidenote: I ran into Skateboard P on Monday at a very empty lounge / club in Baltimore (meaning we spoke and such, there was literally barely anybody there, so I could approach him without being too stalkering / groupie status), and was a little disappointed with the (little) interaction he had with his fans, but that’s not anything that I should be blogging about. Shout out to Fam-Lay, Chad Hugo, and the dude who runs the N*E*R*D twitter page, they were all cool as hell. Meeting your idol can, as I’ve now experienced, be very anti-climactic. He was appreciative of the N*E*R*D tattoo on my back though.

I’m just playing. It doesn’t exist. Yet. In the meantime, I’m preparing myself for this album by jamming their last mixtape. Enjoy.

Also, look out for The Madbury Club. I don’t know much about it, except that it’s something as epic as The Great Progression, and that my man Theo Martins just blogged about it. If you don’t know about grime music, you’re about to be put on. Half my family lives in London, so I was put onto the early acts like So solid Crew (which are actualy more part of the garage genre, but that’s another blog post) at a young age. Now the game has evolved, and you have these guys murdering microphones with wreckless abandon.

Take the time out of your day to hear these guys spit. JME, Skepta, and Frisco. Frisco’s the weakest link (you’ll know who he is soon), but he is still doing the damn thing. If you don’t appreciate it, I don’t know what to tell you. Things should start to get crazy around 3:20, when JME starts to spit.

I’ve been posting some grime music occasionally. If you’d like, just give me some feedback, and I’ll put you on to some other stuff. yerp. your local clutch city DJ’s are back at it. you may remember when i dropped the last cush cush joint way back when. but it’s ‘09, and dj’s ace boon coon and b*luxe aren’t playing games. at all. one super-track that’s essentially 53 minutes of mayhem, baby. music selection is more eclectic and diverse than new york city. need to throw a party but have no DJ? throw this joint on. trust me

my man brandon “DJ B*Luxe” luckett told me about this lovechild that is his latest mixtape. the tape was crafted for a clothing label, Overachievers and modeling agency, Page Parkes, and features everything from old school rap to reggae to soft core electro.  this one really feels like a mixtape, like it should be on a cassette in an old school walkman with the earphones with the thin-ass foam cushion headphones on it that have your ears hurting after an hour.  this is called a “1 take” because they recorded it live: “we only had 1-take to get it right otherwise we would have had to start ALLLLL the way back at the beginning.” impressive, right!?

enjoy, listen all the way through, but as always if you don’t like a song, fast forward about two minutes and you’ll probably a region of the musical galaxy that you never would have expected to come next. it’s like that. the file is too big to sample, but i’m trying to get around that. trust me though, it’s worth the download. i wouldn’t steer you wrong. and E-MAIL THEM IF YOU WANT THEM TO ROCK YOUR NEXT PARTY! e-mail address on the album cover.
