What you know about Basement Jaxx!? Well, if nothing at all, allow this to be your introduction to the UK house/dance/electronica duo, consisting of Felix Burton and Simon Ratcliffe. My man David Hecht put me on them in 8th grade, and I shitted all over them. I wasn’t a fan at all. 8 years later, i’m blogging about them.
I digress. This latest joint is from their album Scars, which is scheduled for release on September 21. The album is kind of like Jay-Z’s Blueprint 3 in that they reached out to a lot of newer artists to perhaps expand their fanbase. I don’t see anything wrong with trendsurfing, man. We all tryna make some money out here, and if the quality of the music isn’t compromised, the I’m all for it.
Two (semi) newcomers to the UK music scene bless the track; Singer Meleka just had a pretty big single on the UK charts with “Go”, while my little man Chipmunk has emerged as one of the premier grime artists in London. If you don’t know about that grime music, you might be on the wrong blog site, dude. Kelis is also on the track, and I feel like they recruited her because the UK eats her music up (she even had one album released solely abroad, selling well in Europe) but I honestly don’t know when she stops and Meleka starts. Oh boy. Enjoy this jam, and let me know if you appreciate me typing properly, with capital letters and punctuation, or if I should go back to the old style. I’m just saying though.

This American folk knew about Basement Jaxx when I was yeee lil boy. 7th grade, you didn’t like them DC2BC? I did, “WHERE’s YOUR HEAD AT AT AT.” Wow their style has changed..still grime, shine, making a dime..I ain’t complaining, great blog sir..love your content.

Have heard some of their groves in the past, specifically Red Alert. This song is amazing. Dissonance used nicely.

I’m in the U.S. & was onto BJ from Red Alert when I heard it on the dance floor. I have their first 3 albums too. Their songs from ‘Rooty’ were also used heavily in several commercials here which brought them greater notoriety. Loving this track & love it when bands mix up their sound to keep up times. I like your caps & puncs.
