damn, i see what you’re saying. i meant more of the gangsta rap. the hyphy movement is a different movement in itself. music evolves, and ppl like e-40, who were part of other movements, helped create a new one. you know? i know about the other guys, but i meant more traditional west coast hip hop. but then again, what is traditional?

i wouldn’t compare nipsey to classic cube AT ALL. he’s way too laid back. cube rapped with an urgency not seen amongst west coast rappers, hell any rapper, since…well….classic ice cube. lol.

i would rank nipsey below knoc’turnal amongst west coast rappers. i’d rather bump blu, pacific division, mitchy slick, i’d even put glasses malone over nipsey. i don’t get the hype at all. he sounds like an average socal g-rapper. he could have been in south central cartel and fit right in. not bad, just average.

ps: could someone point me to nipsey’s best song? i’m more than willing to admit when i sleep on a great artist. this particular song didn’t do much for me. nor have the other nipsey songs i have heard on his myspace (the titles to which i forget)

i just like his charisma. he is young, but he got time to grow a bit. he’s relatively new to the limelight, i just feel like he’ll grow exponentially. he’s not the best, but he just has the most potential in my eyes to change the way people look at the west.

it’s like chris wilcox. he got drafted the earliest out of all the trill ass players on maryland the year they won the ’ship because he had the most potential as an NBA player.
