exclusiveaudiofootage Clipse Exclusive Audio Footage [Unreleased, Re Up].

see, the thing i’ve realized about the music industry is that there’s so many things that go on that the general public will never know. every once in a while, though, things come to the surface. like this, for example. the clipse‘s debut album, exclusive audio footage, was supposed to drop in ’96-’97 on elektra records. the joint was entirely produced by the neptunes. in fact, it was their first big project together, and fostered the relationship they now have today.

the only single they put out didn’t do the damage that the label expected, and consequently, elektra shelved the project. the track was called "the funeral," and i got the video for you:

so the album never saw daylight. clipse eventually left elektra, and then a few years later we saw them all over TV and radio with "grindin", but they were supposed to drop even earlier! isn’t that a pity?! i want to surprise you a little bit. remember jadakiss‘ "knock yourself out", also produced by the neptunes?

well, before jada jumped on it, it was a clipse beat. it’s essentially the same, except the clipse’s version is a little more gritty, probably because this album was never mixed and mastered like a final album normally would be. anyway, listen:

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

it’s called "hear me out" and i think it’s a classic clipse track. now listen to jada’s version:

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

which version goes harder!? also, is it a blessing or a curse that the clipse didn’t release this album? and which rapper in the duo is better!? lastly, is old clipse better than new clipse!? just some food for thought. feel free to discuss in the comments section. enjoy the album.

this is my own super edition version. i took out a few skits b/c they didn’t add anything. this joint has 18 tracks, all pretty vicious. i almost started listing my favorites, but it was over half the album. standout tracks: “feel like me,” “power,” “taiwan to texas,” “hostage,” and the list goes on. vintage neptunes beats. and if anybody notices any other tracks from this album that were used for other artists, please point them out for me! enjoy.

Good Look on this post…I used to be a huge fan of the Clipse…until their second album dropped. I think Jadakiss’s version was better so I am definitely happy that he scooped it from them….

You are a scholar and a gentleman. I always wondered if The Funeral was a random track or if it was on an album. Now I now, good look.

there’s another track on there that was remade into “the shakedown” by ludacris, but the name of it slips me…was it “you don’t even know”? i left my ipod at home, dammit…

im loving that “you dont even know” track on this album. when are they gonna have a new one?!?

Comment by Gabby 06.09.09 @ 11:50 am

man.. Lord Willin’ has to be the debut. Neither MC really sounds like they found their voice throughout EAF. And except for a couple tracks, you can’t even compare EAF’s production. Cot damn? When the last time? Virginia? not to mention grindin’. so heavy.
Jada > clipse on that neptunes track too.

Thanks so much for this. How’d you get your hands on it?

Also, to the individual who hated on HHNF… for real? I could understand not liking TTCD, but HHNF is pretty amazing.

Lord Willin’ and Hell Hath no Fury have to be the better of the two Clipse albums. Till The Casket Drops was kind of a let down, but it is still good though, not their best work. EAF isn’t that bad neither, I’m sure if it were given the mastering and fine tuning it would sound a little better, but, it is what it is though. Thanks for the link to d/l it, I ripped it from a friend while I lived in good ole’ VA and had it saved on my external hard drive, and it took a crap the other day and lost all my itunes music, so, good looking out yo….

With havin so much content and articles do you ever run into any problems of plagorism or copyright violation? My website has a lot of unique content I’ve either written myself or outsourced but it seems a lot of it is popping it up all over the web without my agreement. Do you know any methods to help reduce content from being ripped off? I’d truly appreciate it.

This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like ‘Mixview’ that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you’re listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of “neighbors” will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.

Between me and my husband we’ve owned more MP3 players over the years than I can count, including Sansas, iRivers, iPods (classic & touch), the Ibiza Rhapsody, etc. But, the last few years I’ve settled down to one line of players. Why? Because I was happy to discover how well-designed and fun to use the underappreciated (and widely mocked) Zunes are.
