yerp. just had to fix up the wordpress, and get some artwork and tweaks done. plus, i’m taking a class right now. it’s taking up time in my life, but don’t think i’m not out here, lurking like uncle fester below.

uncle fester, lurking. DCtoBC.com

yeah, buddy. i’m definitely here. always thinking of new ideas and stuff. bout to take over the game again. ok, i never had the game. but i had a nice little following. the new season of entourage drops on july 12th. are y’all ready? that’s when the summer starts in my book.

give me til next week monday to get my act together. the life of a power blogger is as excruciating as a well-paid 9-to-5, except we don’t make money that we can survive off of. so cut me some slack, jack. that being said, i appreciate the support and stuff. i always go on break, i know. i wonder if i’ll be like that when i get a real job. hopefully, for my sake. like i said, i’ll be back on monday, i promise. with some new new stuff like that kid cudi song.

my bad. wordpress 2.8 came out recently and the upgrade froze the blog worse than a PC computer. cot damn. i’m back in action though. get ready for updates for days. especially that girl who tried to call me out on twitter about the blog being weaksauce. oh, we’ll get her alright. we’ll get her.

in the meantime, check out my man chester, who brought a cat to his prom. no joke.

craig from ohio. yikes. DCtoBC.com

actually, his name is really craig, and he’s from dover, ohio. but chester just sounds so much more fitting in my book.

J. Cole – The Warm Up [Mixtape].

j. cole. the warm up mixtape. roc nation. let's go. DCtoBC.com

roc nation’s first signee, j. cole, has released his highly-anticipated mixtape, the warm up. you probably typed in “j. cole – the warm up mixtape” in google and came across my site first. why? it’s cuz i had it before the masses, the johnny-come-latelys, the hop-on’ers. somehow, some way, i finagled a copy of it before the masses. don’t underestimate the little blogger.

this could be the best mixtape of the year. everybody’s been saying how hip hop has been on the steady decline, and there’s nobody out there bringing that fire like back in the days. i’ve jammed it just once. a few of the tracks were leaked earlier this year, but those who are on the fence about his ability to make a good song or the hype surrounding his name will be silenced, and quickly. jam this, and spread it to the world. i’ll bless you with one sample for those unsure of the man’s skills. the download link is below. enjoy.

the clipse is finally leaking some joints from the album, and OH MY GOD. THIS IS THE JAM OF THE WEEK IN MY BOOK. NOTHING ELSE TO SAY BESIDES THIS.

i just ran through my entire house and put this on the big speakers. this album is about to be a classic. and yes, anything made by the neptunes in my book is gold or platinum. this included. shout out to complex magazine for leaking this gem today.

wwhat happens when you mix d’wayne carter and radric davis!?

lil mane. DCtoBC.com

AGH!!!! lord have mercy! no, not like that! i meant on a track. good grief. you get some ignorant music from two of the most popular in mainstream rap today. the song is subpar (although next week i could be claiming it as “crucial”. at least i’m honest), but that photoshop job is really why i posted it. whatever. enjoy.

Where Is Mr. Chi City, Mayne!?

mr. chi city.

who knows. probably stocking his fridge or perfecting the next trill YouTube video. i recently tweeted about how he’s fallen off, but in reality, i’m just anxious for the next episode. a few google searches later, i came across this incredible interview from april ‘09 with my boys over at MetalLungies. check out this excerpt below.

MetalLungies: Has anyone ever not taken kindly to being videotaped?

Chi City: Maybe the one dude at McDonald’s, after the fact though. At first, you could see him in the video he was all excited to be on camera, but after he saw how it turned out, like he hates my guts to this day and shit.

ML: Really?

C-C: Yeah, he doesn’t like me at all, matter of fact. And actually, I had to stop going to that McDonald’s because every time I would go in there, I was really concerned like he would spit in my food or do some crazy shit,  so I was just like, ‘Fuck it, I don’t even have to go up there.’  He would be the only dude I could think of. Everybody else man, nobody really cares.  I just go in there and be myself and just act cool and they just don’t care.

ML: So Rick from McDonald’s has beef with Mr. Chi-City?

C-C: Nah, I wouldn’t even really call it beef, but he felt like when I made that comment — “damn, that motherfucker a little too happy to be here,” — he ain’t like that. But the reality was, he was too happy to be there!

i cried laughing after that. read the rest here.

The Industry Has Been Pimpin' Go-Go Music, & DC's Judah Decides to Call It Like He Sees It!

judah presents...the DMV makes it, the Industry takes it. DCtoBC.com

what an impressive mix right here. DC-based producer (and all around DMV representer) judah decides to set the record straight. this could be one of the big reasons DC has been overlooked for all these years…the industry has been stealing the city’s sound and throwing it to the mainstream!

that’s judah’s claim, and he proves his point. assisted by one of DC’s finest, DJ M.A.F., judah uses an eclectic assortment of jams that we all know laced with short but potent interludes to narrate the story of the “pimping of go-go” as he described it to me. from the evolution of chuck brown’s “extended groove” to the creation of the genre, to the industry’s swindling of DC’s characteristic sound, it’s all in this 16 track mixtape.

this is for anybody who appreciates go-go music and mainstream jams alike. somebody could write a legitimate research paper using this mixtape as a primary source! shout out to judah for bringing this argument to the forefront, and for calling out a bunch of people. chuuuuch. click the artwork above

j-kwon is back.

just some hump day swag music for you guys. a whole lot of punchlines from the guy who disappeared after that incredibly well-produced (and therefore pretty damn entertaining) hood hop album. almost every song was a hit.

the last verse in this is pretty smooth. this is off hood hop 2.5 (when did hood hop 2 come out though!? i’m just saying.) i don’t know who nikki is, but she definitely got smacked. you heard it here first. i want to see this man come back into the game. is it too late!? let me know what you think, and jam the track.

phenomenal documentary about two kids on the west side of chicago and their lives that revolve entirely around basketball. you’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll do it all when you watch this. it’s a gem that more people should see. anybody who ever played a sport will love it. i don’t think anybody doesn’t like this movie. real talk. so if you can only watch one of these movies, i’d go with this.
