the first video from the genre-bending duo, christian rich. i love it. there’s so much symbolism, you’ll feel like high school english class all over again. in a good way. like when you raised your hand and said something so great that you felt good about yourself for the entire day. you know!? enjoy.
huge shout out to the twins, huge shout out to BBGun, and huge shout out to by any means. i’m just happy that the entire process went smoothly. let me know your thoughts on the video, good or bad. i want people to dig deep like philosophy class or something! come on. blog discussions, like the old days.

this definately has a lot of symbolism, but I don’t think I’m making any lines so far. just all crammed up n here and it’s either too easy or too complex for me lol
Comment by Finanshall 05.02.09 @ 12:47 pmi wanna hear it all! don’t be bashful! honest opinions. co-signage isn’t always what i’m tryna hear. i need everybody’s opinions, because that way we can have a legit discussion about it!
Comment by modi 05.02.09 @ 2:05 pmWow..that was really interesting. I literally sat and watched it in my “college seminar critique” mind state, trying to figure out the meanings.
What I took from it was that men are like animals, always trying to hunt down the “Famous” girls as meat, hence the reason they “ate” her at the end…no pun, or porn intended.
But aside from all that, the concept was really ill. Because the song feels abstract to me, and the video compliments it well. Could have went alot of different ways with the song, but i like it…
Comment by Clif Soulo 05.02.09 @ 2:33 pmClif said it best, I think I just couldn’t sum it up well out of the half-ideas I had. and that is probably the real point of the video. why aren’t CR wearing masks tho? like they’re different?
Comment by Finanshall 05.02.09 @ 3:09 pmhmm, I didn’t even think about the two guys not wearing masks. I think your right Finanshall, they are different. In their music, and how they treat women…maybe?
Comment by Clif Soulo 05.02.09 @ 3:16 pm-The guy in the sheep mask…perhaps, he represented the idea that people covet ideas that are already out there. The pussy on the pedestal phenomena.
-I found it interesting the ages on the masks. They were all young. Maybe, it’s indicative of the idea that at those ages women have not yet come into their own and able to decipher between the good guys and the bad ones. And they allow themselves to get caught up…
-The masks represented the various types of men…
I’m reaching lol.
Comment by reading 05.02.09 @ 3:35 pmWell, i’mma give it a shot…
CR already said that the duck masked man represented money…that being said, the money killing the famous girl in the end and hosting the table dinner makes perfect sense…money, the root of all evil. i see heavy symbolism relating to music…the ages on the woman’s mask were all young and had tears…she was misled by the money, fame, and image, like most young women, famous or not. CR had no masks to symbolize being a different look for music. You can clearly see them and their intentions, while everyone else in this industry is masked and plotting. I haven’t quite figured out the specific animals and their masks’ relevance, but they have subtle links to what they’re actually doing, i.e. the masks in the pool room being of quick, beastly animals. i’mma have to analyze deeper, but screw it…i tried for now. lol

P.S. the point is, they accomplished their goal…they’re making us think. gotta love it.
Comment by Lyriciss 05.02.09 @ 4:35 pmoh yeah…the donkey and elephant playing chess. another major symbolism reference. it’s really more than music. it’s talkin about the world in general. which still goes back to the duck = money symbol. smh, crazy. this video will stay dope. time to put it on the iPod lol.

To me it’s just a simple statement that the upper class can be animals. People with lots of money taking advantage of someone they feel isn’t on their level and thinking nothing of it.
My question is this… was the girl suppose to be a prostitute or something?

Comment by Makell Bird 05.02.09 @ 5:50 pmI think the video shows a girl who willingly puts on a front to try and change her own self-image because it’s the only way that she knows how to become a part of this rich and famous lifestyle. She walks around and literally sees everything going on around her but she can’t see anyone for who they really are and she doesn’t pause to think about how that could end up being problematic for her.
Everybody’s wearing different masks and I think maybe they could symbolize different things, but in the end it don’t think it really matters which mask symbolizes what cuz I think the main point is that once she willingly enters that lifestyle she can’t tell the difference anymore. We can see it because we’re watching them from outside the screen, but its more difficult to judge things and people when all around you nothing is exactly what it seems.
She doesn’t notice how all of these things that have become a part of her life are different and how differently they’ve affected her until she pauses at the mirror and then sees that 5 other girls who were probably all about something different fell into the same thing that she’s experiencing now. And he tries to run away but I think once you’ve exposed yourself at that level, its only a matter of time before everything you’ve involved yourself in catches up with you and you either end up being exploited or end up more famous than you currently are.
Oh and I really liked how they had her mask sitting at the table while they were eating. Because I guess it doesn’t matter how you come into the industry or how you leave it. No one is ever going to remember you for who you were or what you’ve become once you’re no longer a part of that lifestyle. the only memories of you will be the ones the industry chooses to keep.
lol thats a lot. my b. but i really liked the video!

Multiple meanings.
As people mentioned before the thing about fame and being in the industry. Fame can come and go (seeing the masks of all the previous girls).
But also all the men wear animal masks, so saying we as men are like animals with both our pursuit and treatment towards women.
Some next level shit for real. Perfect tension between the appealing music and disturbing visuals.

LOVING CHRISTIAN RICH right now…
Comment by adi18 05.05.09 @ 11:46 amYeah…this video is pretty sick…I gotta say. Pretty damn interesting. It’s refreshing to see videos that aren’t just all flash without substance.
My idea of what’s going on here is pretty much akin to what everyone else says– a girl (a fish out of water) tries to ingratiate herself with the entertainment elite (celebrities) by putting on a mask (which could symbolize a lot–airs, pretenses, self-deception) only to realize that the only reason they allow her there is so that she can be forever framed as another trophy–as a status symbol for people that care nothing about her and only about preserving their elite style. Dope.
Reminds me a lot of “The In Crowd” by Kidz in the Hall.
Comment by Tahir J. 05.25.09 @ 9:36 amThis video is very satanic. There is allot of satanic music and video’s in hip hop, pop, rap, r&b and rock, of course.
