the french house sensation cassius are definitely no newcomers in the game. look at the picture, and you’ll think i mistakenly put up a picture of some random european metrosexual OG’s. nah, dude. that’s them. and they rock.

the dynamic duo got started producing paris’ MC solaar back in ’98. i remember being in middle school and somebody hipping me to solaar. i didn’t know what he was saying, but i could tell he was going hard. and now i know where his ill beats came from. anyway, a few years later, they wanted to advance and further elcecticize their sound, so they started grooving in the house music circuit.

in a few years, they cultivated a unique sound composed of good soul music, blues and jazz, and everything else funky enough for them. the result is some of the most melodic house music i’ve ever heard. i wouldn’t even call it house music – it’s beyond that. listen for yourself.

It was supposed to be these dudes’ turn as the next big French House duo after Daft Punk and Justice, but they never quite got to that level of international success.
