I love Janelle Monae a friend of mine put me on to her a few weeks ago Violet Stars (Happy Hunting) is a really good one. But for her, it’s like you either love her or you hate her… you kno? hit or miss.

yea her last album/sampler is interesting. She definitely has a different flavor. Its weird tho, she definitely switched her style up from when she first came out. When she first was out she was more like a regular R&B singer, but its good to see her doing something different in the industry.

i think she didn’t really change her style as much, cuz if you listen to the words, it’s still about the same type of shit. and even on that new joint, “smile” is on some like elegant soulful stuff. her versatility is pretty astonishing. to me, at least.

I was talkin about her to my homie who happens to know her personally and he was tellin me she’s not from the A. She’s from Kansas City. And now that I think about it, i remember one of her songs talkin about stepping on the Atl scene.
